I had the good fortune of being tutored in Tudor-Stuart British Intellectual History while at The University of Chicago by Charles M. Gray. No one could have written a better concise history of Tudor-Stuart Renaissance, Reformation, Rebellion, and Restoration than he. This is not a quick read as it is a thorough recounting of this greatest epoch in English history without being boring. You will do well by reading this marvelous book.
