A dictionary of medicine which has a total wordlist of about 12,500 main words and subsidiary words and expressions derived from them. The vocabulary covers a wide range of medical and paramedical terminology, including parts of the body, diseases and disorders, operations, treatments, hospitals and nursing care. The definitions are given in simple English. This makes it useful for laymen or for students whose first language is not English. The supplement section gives notes on vitamins, calories, SI unit conversion tables and a list of eponymous terms (ie details of the people who have given their names to diseases or parts of the body).
